From wine trade to modern architecture

Until the end of 1974, the location of Tannat and its surrounding building blocks housed the Vandenheuvel brewery, where the renowned Ekla pilsner was brewed. Following the closure of the brewery, various parts of the site were sold, and the Palais du Vin established itself in this historic location.

In 2008, they were amalgamated within the Cinoco group. Cinoco, a renowned Belgian distributor of quality wines with a history spanning over 325 years, had long maintained its wine warehouses in Molenbeek. However, in 2019, Cinoco relocated to Nivelles, making the Molenbeek site available for new developments.

The former Cinoco location in Molenbeek was repurposed, creating space for the construction of a school and a mixed residential project. This transformation not only signifies a new chapter in the history of the location but also represents an evolution from industrial and commercial activities to a more diverse and community-oriented approach to urban development.
